Wow, was my last post really in May? It’s funny, because I’ll have “blog brain” moments, where I think some random thought, and then say to myself — hey, that would make a good blog! It’s the time in between the thought and the actual posting that I lose it. But I’m back in the swing and hope to be a little more regular.
So what’s been happening in my life? Not as much as you might think. Lucas and I took an *amazing trip to the Pacific Northwest and now spend a lot of time on realty Web sites, picking out our perfect Seattle home. We really fell in love with the city, and although we’re both East Coasters, and never thought about going west, I think the trip was a real eye-opener for both of us. Unfortunately, the crappy Florida housing market makes it impossible to even think about making a change, so for now, it really is just a dream.
Lucas passed his architecture exam and is now studying for his LEED certification, which is basically an exam that qualifies him to design environmentally-friendly buildings. He’s pretty excited about it, because he’s still young to have both a license and a LEED certification, and it makes him much more marketable. I think he still hopes to someday get his Masters, and this is a step toward that.
I have turned into quite the cook — who knew I would enjoy it so much? I’m still kind of a scratch cook … more Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee than some of the more posh chefs … but I’m really enjoying it, especially because we are eating very healthy meals. I started a new blog called Recipe Redos, and I have taken pictures of everything I’ve cooked for the last couple of months, so look for some posts there when I get around to it.
I looked back at a post I made here in March, right before my birthday, in which I laid out some goals for myself before turning 29 in 2009. I’m doing okay so far:
1. Learn a new language (in progress) 2. Finish a sprint triathlon (done) 3. Organize photos 4. Volunteer 5. Learn to bake 6. Plant and maintain a garden 7. Stick to a budget 8. Stop biting my nails (completed but then undone) 9. Make curtains 10. Stay in better touch with friends 11. Travel to Europe 12. Travel to New Orleans 13. Get bedroom decorated (pictures to come soon) 14. Produce a documentary 15. Learn to use Photoshop 16. Run 5 miles without stopping 17. Build a deck in backyard 18. Look into taking classes 19. Learn HTML code 20. Join a choir/audition for a show/something “singy” 21. Try as many new foods as possible 22. Organize jewelry 23. Try making a 3-tier cake 24. Make Friday nights fun 25. Daily affirmations 26. Maintain this blog! 27. Cut out sugar as much as possible 28. Floss every other day
