Time to Heal

The Caylee Anthony case has been the big story here in Central Florida since the end of summer. It has all the makings for a national news phenomenon — a missing toddler, good characters, evil characters, emotion and more. But it’s time to heal. Since the 2-year-old’s bones were discovered and positively identified as Caylee, the community has gone nuts.

Now, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the Anthony family has removed the stuffed animals that strangers have left outside their home, and donated them to children.

“The Anthony family knows that what Caylee would want is for some other children to have these gifts,” said Brad Conway, the Anthonys’ attorney. “She always shared her toys with other kids, and they know if Caylee was here, she would share these.”

But many of these people (I emphasize — STRANGERS) are furious, saying that it’s selfish of the Anthonys, and that the memorial isn’t for them, it’s for Caylee. They insinuate that by removing the stuffed animals, they are disrespecting the memory of the little girl. (See WESH’s story here.)

This has to stop. The protests outside of the Anthony house, the constant presence of onlookers, the unsolicited cards and flowers. I would never ask people to hide their feelings about the case, and I undersand the deep sadness we all feel for the unecessary, unbelievably worthless waste of a beautiful life.

But the fighting has to stop. Casey Anthony, Caylee’s mother, will stand trial for her murder, and no matter the verdict, we need to do exactly what the Anthony family is doing. Think about the children who are still alive, who need our help much more than Caylee does.

Time to get ready for work on a cooler Monday. I say cooler because while it’s dropped to a high of 60 here, my parents are dealing with THIS:

Compared to that, my little cold front doesn’t seem too bad. At least they’ll have a White Christmas!

But I’m starting my day with some warm pumpkin mess, as a nod to the weather. Canned pumpkin mixed with splenda, cinammon and soymilk.

Splenda … Stevia … I’m hearing a debate — what do you think? Let me know!

Well said, Ms. Tot…time to move on.

Wow, that seems really odd that the people who left the stuffed animals for Caylee are mad the family removed and donated them. Were the animals supposed to stay there forever?! Emotions make people crazy, no? I agree with you, time to move on.

Where do your parents live? That could be my patio! I’m in Portland, OR, and we have gotten SO much snow in the last 3 days.
