This morning, I woke up before my alarm went off … I always love that, because
1. It means I got enough sleep, and my body is ready to get going.
2. I have some time to sit in bed and think.
I had planned to drive to the gym with Lucas and do some lifting, but I really *felt like running … and, inspired by a post by one of my very favorite bloggers (Kath from Kath Eats Real Food), I decided to do an unexpected run.
And it was fantabulous! (I made up the word, but it seems appropriate)
I ran a wide loop to the gym, making it 6 miles, then did some light lifting before coming home. It was great, because I didn’t feel any pressure to finish — after all, even one mile was one mile more than I had planned. I jammed out with a mix that I haven’t listened to for a while, but one that I used when I was trying to increase my distance from 2.5 miles to 3. It was funny, because I hit my 3-mile song and realized how far — literally and figuratively — I have come in my training.
So, Christmas in Florida is always a little funny … yesterday we hit 77 degrees, and it was steamy all day! Lucas and I opened presents, ate (and ate and ate and ate), had a great Skype conversation with my parents and grandmother in Massachusetts, and then decided to check out our favorite Christmas house.

This place is pretty well known, and the decorations are so bright, we can actually see them from our house, about a half-mile away! They have all sorts of fun facts posted on the house, for the thousands of people that stop by. They have between 100,000-110,000 light on the house and lawn, and it takes them three weeks to set it all up! It’s such a neat sight, and they’ve been doing this for more than a decade! I love watching the little kids walk through, although I wonder if this is what they think Christmas looks like everywhere!
We got a lot of work done around the house, too, and I did some work for GrowingBolder.com, so all in all, it was a pretty good day! Speaking of work, I need to get back to it, so here’s wishing you all a wonderful weekend …

Hi Katy – thanks for your note!
Sounds like you had a great Christmas, spoiled dogs and all
(they’re really cute, by the way!)
