As promised in yesterday’s post, you will be seeing a new face from time to time here on Silly Tater Tot. Lucas, my husband, has offered to sacrifice his time, energy, and potentially his taste buds take on the daunting task of taste-testing. As stated earlier, I’d rather not put myself in any possible conflicts of interest, but I would like to share new food finds.
So, introducing a new segment I’m calling: Lukey Likey?
Here are Lucas’s foodie credentials.
1. He likes to eat and drink.
In fact, he likes almost everything you could ever put in front of him. He doesn’t love mushrooms or raw tomatoes, but I’m working on him in both cases. Because, seriously, what is life without mushrooms and tomatoes?
2. He grew up in northern New York, eating cheese curd (shudder), real maple syrup, venison and homemade candy. He prefers “real” food — and, unlike yours truly, doesn’t use artificial sweeteners EXCEPT in diet soda. So he’s a good judge of anything that tastes like fake food.
3. He pretty much has an iron stomach. So, no matter what we pick, he should be able to hold it down. A fact that should make our selections very interesting.
4. Despite the above pictures, he likes healthy food, which is good, because that’s pretty much all I make and eat. So, for the most part, he will evaluate his food choices with a critical eye for nutrition and filling-ness. Yes, another made up word. My blog, my rules. And for the record, those donuts came from VooDoo Donuts in Portland, Oregon, and anyone who would not order one while visiting is nuts. He went with maple and bacon. Mine had peanut butter and chocolate and is a treat I will remember my entire life.
5. He loves to watch the Food Network, and reads cookbooks for fun. So that makes him as much a foodie as pretty much anyone else in America.
Okay, on to the review! We kick off this segment with a look at Patio’s Chicken Burrito. Normally, this is not something either of us would eat, but I am out of the house more often, leaving him snacky and alone. So, frozen foods are fast and easy.
Here are the nutritional stats on this beauty (thanks to Calorie King):

Right off the bat (or the bite — hahaha), you can see that it’s a relatively high calorie and fat count for a snack. But if it’s a meal, it’s not too bad. So, let’s see — did Lukey Likey? Here are his notes.
Easy to overcook, I ended up with dry ends after using the high end of the suggested cooking timeSmooth texture — no chicken chunks
Decent flavor; reminds me of chicken gravy or chicken and biscuits
Tastes better than it smells
It appears deflated; there is not a ton of filling
The burrito was on sale 2/$1, and we bought two (suckers). I asked Lucas if he would buy this again, and he said “only if it was on sale.”
As a first-time reviewer, he did not understand the importance of documenting the process, and so did not take photos of the burrito. Look for an improved review in the next installment of Lukey Likey.
Okay, back to numero uno … it’s been a lazy Sunday of cleaning and football watching. Two big pieces of Tom Brady news. He apparently popped the question to Gisele Bunchen (or did he?), and, much more distressing, he may be doubtful for the 2009 season. His recovery is apparently not going well after knee surgery. GRRR. Re-signing Matt Cassel is looking better and better.
In other knee surgery news, Faegan has decided that he is done with the cone that prevented him from licking his scar. We came down to find this evidence of his unhappiness:
Okay, there’s more to share but I’ll save it for the next post … because, in addition to being this blog’s premier food taster, Lucas is also an excellent chef, and needs my chopping and stirring skills to help as he makes homemade pasta sauce. Yum.

Me likey Lukey Likey?. [check out the punctuation...wasn't convinced, but...] My hub wouldn’t be caught dead participating on my blog! You guys are so brave.
