My wedding was one if the most amazing days of my life — Lucas and I had a big party with our friends and family, and made official what we’d already been recognizing unofficially for years…we were together, for better or for worse.
So I was thrilled to hear that two of our friends from college and beyond were tying the knot in a gorgeous waterfall ceremony in Ithaca, NY (hence the gorge joke). After tying up some last-minute loose ends, I flew up to join my man.
In Orlando, I fueled up:
(Side note — since the baristas never spell my name right, I usually give a fake name. I was too distracted to remember to do that here, but normally, I’m Shakira or sometimes Gwendolyn. You?)
Shocked by the cold when I stepped off the airplane, I immediately went for some warmth and comfort:
Cute, huh? Ice and Bueller are gorgeous, loving dogs, and they belong to a gorgeous, loving man — Luke’s cousin, who invited us into his home so we didn’t have to stay in a hotel.
I somehow took more than 200 pictures between our morning in Ithaca and the wedding ceremony and reception, so here are just a few, and I’ll post a slideshow of all the pictures at the bottom.
The highlights:
- I ran 6 miles in the cool, crisp Ithaca weather. Awesome.
- Lucas and I dressed up.
- Chilly but lovely wedding ceremony by the waterfall.
- Freezing but fabulous reception in a big, renovated barn.
- Vegan wedding cake.
- I got my crunk on.
Enjoy.

Now we’re in Maine, after a long drive…so stay tuned for more updates on the road!

What a gorgeous wedding! Have a fabulous time in Maine!
Oh, what a fun trip! Have the leaves started changing yet? I love the change of seasons, especially fall in the northeast!
What a gorgeous wedding. I love LOVE the flowers. I have to admit that there’s nothing better than running in a brisk cold day…its one of my favourite things to honestly do. I hope that you enjoyed the weekend…it’s always nice to get away sometimes.
You and Lucas looked so pretty! And you’re so funny about giving your name at Starbuck’s. I’ve never given my fake name there but I remember once when some cheesy guy asked me for my name, I told him it was ‘Rita’. The next day he saw me on the street and started shouting, “Rita, Rita, Rita!” and I had no idea he was talking to me. Too bad my mom was standing next to me and I had to explain the whole story to her. HAHA!
BTW, thank you for my Bondi Band! I love it!
Where was this wedding held? I live in upstate New York and would love to see what this place has to offer!!
What a lovely wedding! Glad you had such a good time.
The puppies are really cute and the funny thing is I have the same rug they are standing on.
