A Meat-Filled Weekend

by Katy on November 14, 2009

Thank you ALL so much for the support you’re giving me and Michelle as we prepare for #VeganWeek, which starts on Monday.

If you’re interested in taking part, we’ll be revealing some details — along with guest bloggers, prizes and more — so be sure to check out my special page:

When I first told Lucas about the vegan challenge, I told him that he didn’t need to take part. I was pleasantly surprised when he said he’d like to try for dinners, which I’d be in charge of organizing.

I was even more surprised — and thrilled — when he told me yesterday that he’s going to try and do a completely vegan diet for the week!

Of course, his first question was…is beer vegan?

Notes of pumpkin spice...

It's good to be a brewer's wife...

That was quickly followed by this statement:

“I guess we’d better get our meat on this weekend.”

So, we’ve all been stuffing our faces:

Is that not the laziest dog you’ve ever seen?

We have big plans today. For my sanity, I am going to plan my meals for next week, then we are going shopping for our vegan pantry. We’re also going back to one of our favorite places — a “hiking” trail.

I used quotation marks because in Florida, there are no hills, so hiking is more like walking, but after doing THIS in Maine:

We’re desperate to get outside and enjoy the weather and views offered by the Sunshine State!

What is your favorite way to embrace and celebrate nature?

Good on your man for getting onto this. I am hosting a thanksgiving tomorrow for 100 people and I am going to enjoy the turkey and then veganis my week. I totally planned out my meals as well, cause I wouldn't be able to survive right now without it. I am excited.

LOVE the lazy dog pic! My favorite way to get out an enjoy nature is by getting out rain or shine. I used to be a fair weather hiker, but I've had some of best experiences outdoors in a downpour!

Vegan can taste even better then meat! I love the lazy dog pictures our dogs do that on the stairs. Or eat laying down. I used to have a horse that would eat frequently while laying down. Musta tasted better that way!

Planning meals is pretty critical though!

And I go run or walk outside or ride a horse. All are great ways to appreciate nature.
