Caffeine and Cookies

Lucas just got back from a week-long trip to Seattle. I was so jealous — we went to Portland and Seattle a year or so ago and very seriously talked about packing up and moving!

He asked me what I wanted as a souvenir, and I requested local coffee and a Starbucks Seattle mug to match the Orlando one I already own.

He delivered!

Coffee and Mug

Obama Blend Coffee

I love the description of that coffee.

That’s the caffeine part of this post — here’s the cookie:

Macaroons

I have Coconut-Almond and Cocoa Macaroons (un)cooking away in the dehydrator. I’ll be packing them up in what I’m calling “grown-up goodie bags” for my birthday party tomorrow!

As I’ve mentioned…I’m turning 30 tomorrow. St. Patrick’s Day. So, rather than stress over having to eat birthday cake that I don’t want, or trudge through the work day, I’ve decided to throw myself an oatmeal party!

I’m making steel cut oats and bringing a toppings bar, including coconut, chocolate chips, dried fruit and nuts, banana, brown sugar, peanut butter, blueberries and more! I’m pretty excited…and it will be fun for me to show my colleagues what my oatmeal craze is all about!

What do you like on your birthday — cake? Cookies? Something else?

those macaroons look divine! and what a fabulous idea for your birthday! my favorite is red velvet, but i think your oatmeal party is splendid!

  2. I love cake for my b-day. :-)

Have a happy birthday!! An oatmeal bar may be THE cutest thing I've ever heard of!! What a good influence you are! It seems like someone in my department has a celebration once a week, and we're basically forced to eat the cake! For my birthday, I like serving cheesy nostalgic ice cream novelties, like those little ice cream cups, sandwiches or fudgcicles.

  4. An “oatmeal party” is such a great idea!! And I'm sure after eating some raw macaroons, no one would ever miss a traditional cookie! I love them!! My co-workers are pretty used to my “odd” eating habits by now, so I think it's great you're being a good influence! :)

    Happy early birthday!

    Have a great birthday!

And I'd really like to know which came first: The name of the coffee, or the blend of the coffee? Because both are really creative!!!

Heppy Birthday! It's already the 17th here in Japan.
I love the coffee decription – funny.
For my birthday I love my mom's brownie icecream cake, but living overseas I only get it once every 3 or 4 years these days. That just makes it more specisal though. Someday (maybe for my 40th) I want one of those incredibly decorated cakes that cakewrecks.com features on their “Sunday Sweets” posts. They look amazing.

I've requested bagels (wheat for me) for a birthday breakfast for the last few years at work. This way, I'll have breakfast (I usually bring peanut butter with me, since I know they're coming!), and this way I don't hurt anyone's feelings by not eating the cake that they've brought that I don't want!

Happy birthday, Katy! Welcome to Club 30 (although I'm almost a whole year ahead of you)!

Happy Happy Birthday lady! I love the idea of an oatmeal party! We always have an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen!
