SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Tomorrow (Monday) is the launch of FitBlogChats.com! It’s password-protected now but that’s going to be lifted. And my post will go live pretty early so you can get the scoop (ahhh the pun) on all the new tools and get to play. One caveat — we are essentially beta testers for a tool that’s been customized for us from an existing chat platform. It’s an amazing opportunity and I know it’s going to be a game-changer. So just bear with me for the first few weeks until get used to it, hey?
On to the post…
Y’all know I don’t do a lot of reviews — but in this case, I was thrilled to try out BiPro Whey Protein because:
1. I have tried just about every protein powder out there and have never found one that works well in everything from smoothies to baked goods.
2. Lucas is a protein powder hog and my supply was low.
3. BiPro is all-natural, has no artificial sweeteners (a deal-breaker for me) and NO bulking agents. Check, check, check.
4. The BiProGirl is adorable (I love her blog!)
5. A friend is helping BiPro reach out to bloggers.
First — the details.
Ingredients:
Whey protein isolate (from milk), less than 1.5% soy lecithin added to aid in product dispersibility.
80 calories a scoop? I’ll take it! Normally, I use about half a serving of other powders because they run about 150-200 calories a scoop. I don’t count calories as a rule, but when I make smoothies I usually load them up with fruit, almond milk, nut butters and more, so I’m already getting enough protein and don’t need the extra calories (which I’d rather consume elsewhere).
Also, BiPro is unflavored, which I love. I usually keep a tub of chocolate and a tub of vanilla in the house, but this allowed me to sort of customize it myself (without extra sugars or sweeteners).
And finally, BiPro blended VERY smoothly in both my smoothies and baked goods. Don’t tell my dear husband, but I’ve been sneaking it into his beloved scones and waffles…I don’t bother to cut back on the flour or anything, I just dump a scoop or two in. But if you want to be more official, BiPro has a recipes section on its website.
Ironically — about halfway through the tub, I decided to give up dairy for a while…so whey protein powder hasn’t been my thing. But, if you are lactose intolerant and usually avoid dairy, BiPro only has a small amount of lactose per serving and its research shows that many people who can’t usually digest it CAN tolerate this. Worth a shot…
What’s your favorite thing to do with protein powder?
(Disclosure: I received this tub of powder for free in exchange for my honest review)

I LOVE baking with my protein powders! This one looks really great – I would LOVE to try it!
I haven’t tried protein powder in anything besides smoothies, but i want to try it in other things soon!
