30DC: What’s Your Sign?

I’m skipping a few of the suggested topic starters from the original 30 Day Challenge, including numbers 3,4,5,6. I reserve the right to come back to them, but I thought I’d jump to number 7, because it’s fun!

(You can catch up on other 30DC posts here)

I’m a Pisces — a zodiac sign associated with water, representing the fish into which Aphrodite and her son Eros transformed in order to escape the monster Typhon; they are tied together with a cord on their tails, to make sure they do not lose one another.*

What Fits:

I am definitely a water baby — I swam semi-competitively in middle and high school, a little in college, and now love the swimming legs of my triathlon adventures. I am happiest when on a boat, on waterkis (or paddleboards!) and one of the best jobs I ever had was as a lifeguard and camp counselor, teaching kids how to swim.

And I’m certainly imaginative and sensitive…I have big dreams, and truly do believe that you can do whatever you put your mind to. I think I’m very sympathetic, especially when I get to know people and their situations. I don’t always act on those sympathies to the best of my abilities, but I really do try and use things like social media and my blog to make a difference and to serve as a teacher.

I can be escapist — I’m a to-do list person, a Type-A planner and tend to follow through on my commitments. But when it comes to my free time, as much as I love my friends and family, I’d often prefer getting into pajamas and reading a book or watching trashy TV. When I work out, I prefer to be alone, and purposely choose loud, pulsing music so that I don’t have too much time to think while running or at the gym.
What Doesn’t Fit:

I don’t take criticism well, even when it’s spot on and well-intentioned, and I wish I could say that I was kinder, but I have a snarky streak.

I’m the opposite of vague; I believe in bullet points, emphasis and simple, clear instructions.

And I’m certainly not weak willed. I’m committed to things that are often difficult, including a healthy lifestyle, and it takes a lot to knock me down from my goals.

What is your zodiac sign, and does it fit your personality?

  1. I’m an Aquarius . What I am finding, as my self esteem grows, I truly move more into my sign.

  2. Kristen says:

I’m a cancer and I definitely have the “hard on the outside, soft on the inside” trait associated with the Crab…

  3. Sue says:

I’m a pisces, too! The description fits me quite well, but not 100%. I like to joke that pisces are the best. ;)

  4. Brittany says:

I’m Pisces too! I knew there was a reason i always liked you :) I totally don’t take criticism well, but i’m getting better at it!

  5. Michelle says:

I’m a Cancer (so is my hubby and our son!) and I feel like the description does fit us pretty well. We are homebodies that love nurturing and helping out. I love hosting people in my home and doing what I can for my friends. I’m also very sensitive, but I don’t think I outwardly appear that way. It takes a lot to break through that shell.

I look forward to all of the fights that we will have with our Aries daughter (she was supposed to be a Pisces!) ;)

  6. This is a good list for a 30-day challenge. I’ve been looking to do one, but haven’t come across something I like until now.

My zodiac is Aquarius, but I have no idea what I’m supposed to be all about. Guess I’ll find out when I start this 30-day!

  7. Katy, I really hope we get to meet one day … I might as well have written this blog post. Every single point you made I was sitting here nodding, saying “uh-huh, uh-huh, me too.” Oh, and I’m also a Pisces! ;-)
