In My Prime

I so wanted to make a pun here about 33 being my prime number…

…until Google told me I’m an math failure. (I did, however, find this hysterical site: http://is.33.aprimenumber.com/.)

This weekend, I turned 33 years old. It’s a weird age, because it’s so far from my college years and yet I don’t really feel like a grown-up. Sure, I’m married with a kid, and sure I own a house and have two dogs and two cars (yikes, that’s scary) but I also still stress out about how I look and whether people like me and where my career is going.

But overall, I think I really am — as my father told me during a recent video chat — in my prime.

I won’t waste your time or bore you with a list of all of the blessings in my life, but you should know that 33 is freaking awesome. 32 was better than 30 and 30 was better than 25 so I have nothing but high hopes.

I mean, at 33:

  • Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic alone.
  • Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote his essay, “Nature,” encouraging readers to see the miraculous in the common.
  • Vaudeville performer Walter Nilsson rode across the United States on an 8 1/2 foot unicycle.

I am more passionate than ever about my job. I have the world’s most beautiful baby. I have a husband who is not only drop-dead sexy — he’s my best friend. I have friends across the country that love and support me. I have blog readers, whom I think of as friends.

It’s my birthday, but I wanted to give YOU some gifts. So enter below* to win one or both of these items:

1) An ENDORPHIN WARRIOR bracelet

Endorphin Warrior

I discovered Endorphin Warrior through Twitter, and reached out to them to see if they wanted to work with me. I am so inspired by the messages on their jewelry, and the company told me it’s inspired by YOU, my amazing readers, and they wanted to show you some love. So one winner will get to choose an Endorphin Warrior bracelet (several messages are available). No big surprise — I chose the bracelet that celebrates my love for dance (#freebie).

2) I RUN THIS BODY t-shirt

  8. as I ease on into 44…I can definitely say it only gets better.

  9. I like unbreakable!

  10. I would put ‘strong is the new skinny’ on the shirt! Happy Birthday!

  11. I would love a shirt that said, “Run With Reckless Abandon” because that has been my mission as of late. It’s not about pace, or miles, or numbers. It is about running with my heart – for joy.

  12. I love her motto and try to force it into my negative thoughts at the hardest parts of my runs and races. My shirt would say, You’ve got this! or No is telling you you can’t but you.

  13. Happy Birthday Katy and congrats on having such a wonderful place in the Universe!

For my bracelet (it’s so hard to choose!) I would want either the As I Run or Unbreakable one. As tough as it’s been to get back on the horse, so to speak, I’m struggling my way back into running again and cleaining up my eating. It’s harder at 51 than it was at 45!

  14. Coming up with a t-shirt mission statement is really hard!

“Don’t let those without wings break yours” Fly!

  15. That bracelet is PERFECTION. :D “Fearless” is kind of my life-mantra, so I immediately gasped a little when I saw that available. I really love the dancing one, too!

  16. My shirt would say…”It’s just a hill…get over it!” I love that quote and always say it when I’m running hills!

  17. I would put “Respect the training. Honor the commitment. Cherish the results.” on my shirt.

  18. My shirt would say: “Just keep on believing”!

  19. My shirt would say “Sneakers, Bananas and Spears.” I believe in being healthy, eating healthy and being fierce in all you do. :-)

  20. I would make a tee that says “just keep running.” There have been so many times I wonder why I get out there and log countless miles every month, but there is nothing like setting a PR after working so hard!

  21. Luzviminda says:

My shirt would say Astig which is a Tagalog slang for tough :)

  22. I love that shirt! Every girl needs that shirt!

  23. I would love the relentless bracelet. I feel that way a lot!

  24. Meredith N. says:

    Love the t-shirt!!

  35. I’d have to think about what my motto would be. Probably something about how when I run, I feel like I’m flying!

  36. Christine Uniejewski says:

For the shirt, I would put “Just keep moving forward”!

  37. I would choose the bracelet that says “Breath.”

  44. My T-shirt would say Run Like a Mother!

  45. Happy Birthday! I have heard the 30s are better than the 20s, so I am excited to get into those 30s years later this year :)

  46. My mission statement would be in the same sassy spirit of my grandmother! Her favorite quote “Suck it up, cupcake!” Maybe Holyshirt will make some of these babies for me! I can dream!

  47. Also silly me, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  48. I feel the same way about the age issue. Just trying to keep things in perspective. I would choose the Breathe bracelet because I have to tell myself quite often when I need to calm down.

  56. I love so many of those bracelets, but I think I would chose the “Breathe” one.
