QUICK DISCLOSURE: I’m thrilled to be working with the Orlando-based team that is putting together Taste of the Nation 2013, as I have for the last few years. I help promote and cover the fundraising party in exchange for discounted-price tickets. As I think you’ll see if you read through my past posts, I love this organization, I love the event and do my very best to bring attention to an extremely worthy cause. You can check out my full disclosure policy here, of course.
Ahhhhh you guys — I am so excited! It’s my favorite time of year…not Christmas or my Birthday.
For years, I’ve been attending this event and it really is the thing that both Lucas and I count down to:
- Eating Around the Nation…In High Heels (2009)
- Making a Delicious Difference (2010)
- We Are One Tasty Nation (2011)
- Taste of the Nation: Pregnant Edition (2012)
It’s hard to believe that last year, I was hugely pregnant and needed a special appetizer just to make it through the night.
Not this year! I’ve even gone all out and hired a babysitter for the night. That’s a big step, since Audrey will be 1 in October and I’ve never left her in someone else’s care (other than her daddy’s) for something like this.
(She’s in daycare all day, so I don’t expect to have the separation anxiety other moms might have, AND I’ve actually hired her school teacher…but still!)
I feel like I need to spend a week training my stomach to get ready for the next two words: DESSERT STATION.
This has always been a cause near and dear to my heart, because I know how blessed I am to have access to whole, local, REAL foods. Not everyone does, so the ability to pursue a “healthy living” lifestyle is in and of itself a privilege.
