What the F?

F is my favorite letter for these reasons:

FOOD

I believe in real, whole foods. I believe in clean eating as much as possible, which means I eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Sound boring? Anything but. It’s delicious, healthy and fuels my fit lifestyle.

Do I slip and fall? Every.darn.day. I fight the battle to binge on a near-daily basis, and I’d be lying if I told you it’s easy to pick the apple over the apple pie, and the brown rice over the loaded pizza. But I’ve never felt bad about making the right choice and I for sure have felt awful after making the wrong one.

FITNESS

I am a triathlete — which still gives me the chills to say. I was a relatively active kid, swimming, playing softball and soccer, etc. But when I grew up, I stopped playing and started partying. Surprisingly, while I was bitten by the Freshman 15, the post-college, first-job, working-crazy-hours-for-very-little-money 20 hit me even harder. So when I revamped my lifestyle, I kicked my fitness plan into action.

I went from being a total couch potato to working out almost every day. I’ve completed several triathlons, am training for my first half-marathon, and truly now consider myself an athlete. I even love yoga!

FUN

I love my life! I have been lucky enough to travel to some great places in the last 5 years — from Paris and London to Chicago, Portland, Boston, NYC and more, I have had a blast seeing what the world has to offer. I really get pleasure out of reading, writing and hanging out with my friends and family (see below).

FRIENDS & FAMILY

Blessed, blessed, blessed girl am I … I have an amazing family — including my mom, dad, brother and gorgeous, talented husband. I am so thankful for all of them. My mom is the epitome of unconditional love. My dad is my hero — the best inspiration I could ask for, and a great person to debate. My brother overwhelms me with his creativity — I have no artistic talents whatsoever!

And my husband … love of my life. Best friend. Funny, sweet and quietly sentimental guy. Loves beer. Loves his animals.

FURBALLS

Maybe I should have just included these guys under friends and family, because they are so near and dear to my heart. I have the most spoiled animals in America — two fat cats and two fat dogs. I cringe when I look at their fat rolls, because I feel like a failure as a mother! But they’re gorgeous, loyal and the best friends a (wo)man could have. For the record, all of my animals were adopted from shelters.

It’s nice to hear that you struggle every day. Some bloggers make it sounds like it’s soooo easy for them. I struggle every day to eat right and not slip. 95% of the time I’m pretty good at it. But on those 5% days, I just beat myself up!

Never easy…I promise! But as long as I’m doing my best, I seem to find a healthy balance.
