Finding Friends Through Social Media

I’m really excited to present my latest online presentation — “Finding Friends Through Social Media.”

It’s designed to be a broad overview of some of the ways to find people, make friendships, keep friendships and a few best practices on safety and not being, you know…that guy.

Attune Foods sponsored this video, and I hope you’ll take a moment to thank them after watching — at http://attunefoods.com or @attunefoods on Twitter.

As you know, this topic is near and dear to my heart. After moving to NYC I found it difficult to meet people my age who were “looking for new friends” too. Thanks to the blogging world I met Theodora (www.losingweightinthecity.com) and Melissa (fitnessnyc.wordpress.com)!

I have reconnected in an unintimidating way to many long lost friends…a great way to catch up without needing to be “friends” in real life.

Katy, thank you for posting this video! I don’t often watch embedded videos, but this one was more than worth my time. So much good information.

I have made a few absolutely wonderful new friends blogging, and am slowly working to make more. The online community can be so warm and welcoming, and it is sometimes easier to connect with people with like interests online than in real life, especially if you have an offbeat schedule and a crazy, busy life!

Thanks for sharing this Katy! I am fairly new to your site and I don’t normally listen to 30 minute presentations, but I listened to all of this because of the great information. You definitely seem like an expert at this subject and I liked how you gave pointers on what to do and what not to do…”Don’t be that guy.”

Thanks for taking the time to share this with everyone! I myself am trying to get out of my comfort zone and meet people so this information will be helpful when meeting bloggers in person!

I literally JUST started blogging and felt a little lost and overwhelmed–this video was amazing! (Your ability to speak without pausing for drinks of water is majorly impressive)

I’ll be checking out all of your tips over the next few days so thank you!
