Five for Friday

I had an amazing, amazing birthday — thank you ALL for your comments, tweets and Facebook love.

So how did I celebrate?

SMOOTHIE BAR!

Birthday-Collage-1

2011 Birthday 02

Last year, my oatmeal bar was such a hit that this year, my colleagues planned and put together an amazing party involving three blenders, several bags of frozen fruit and toppings galore.

I love being able to celebrate with healthy, delicious food rather than cake and ice cream — and I love that my co-workers get me enough to know that it’s important to me. Wonder what we’ll do next year?

Happy Belated Birthday to you Katy!

What a fun oatmeal and smoothie bar. I might have to borrow this idea. I love that it’s healthy and it can spark conversation too because you can do a “show and tell” with your food. What did you put in yours? What did you get? So fun.

What didn’t I put in, is more like it?

We did small cups of various smoothies, including: almond milk, banana, almond butter, frozen berries, spinach, cocoa powder, granola, sprinkles…

Happy Birthday! So glad I found this blog! I totally agree — instead of going out for an indulgent meal/cake and ice cream, on my birthday my husband goes on a shopping spree at Whole Foods to get all the expensive health foods I normally don’t buy for myself! Ha, sounds so weird but I love the birthday feast we get out of the special goods :)
